Handgun Firearms Training

Three Steps to Get Your License to Carry (LTC)

  1. Complete the TDF Conceal Carry Weapon Course (CCW), also referred to as the HGP handgun permit or concealed carry permit.
  2. Shooting Range Qualifications or Proficiency Demonstration. Qualifications are normally scheduled the following day after the TDF CCW course unless the instructor make a change. The Proficiency Demonstration (shooting qualification) is required for every student that completes the TDF CCW training course. This is part of the requirement to obtaining your CCW permits.
Shooting Qualifications for Conceal Carry consists of the following:
    • Personal range instructions
    • Maryland conceal carry (25 shots)
    • DC conceal carry (50 shots)
    • Maryland and DC must qualify with a 9 MM handgun
    • Utah and Florida – no shooting is required to qualify but you will need to complete the firearms course and show your ability to handle firing a live firearm.
    • You can only miss the target 5 times
    • Handgun Qualify License (HQL) is 1 shot
  3. Once you pass the Shooting Qualifications, submit your paperwork as each city/state requires you to do so. Your permit will be officially approved by the city/state after a background check has been successfully completed and all requirements are met.
